Yet stress, shocking events, etc. are a problem, because the person can quickly end up in a negative spiral. How does a neurotransmitter balance affect the body and why can one quickly develop unexplained conditions?

What does Attention Deficit Disorder mean?

Attention deficit disorder causes the person to be easily distracted by unimportant aspects of life from an early age. Attention is given to things that normally would not receive attention. It means that the person has symptoms of absence, which means that they can function less well within society. Concentration is less and mistakes are made more quickly. It can also lead to impulsive behavior without thinking too much, possibly with all the consequences that entails. Furthermore, the person may experience several mood swings per day and poor sleep or sleep rhythm. Some ADD patients, on the other hand, may have specific talents, because they can concentrate intensely on small things.

Disrupted balance of neurotransmitters in ADD

ADD is based on a congenital abnormality in neurotransmitters. These are responsible for many body processes as it communicates with all parts of the body through the nerves. If this does not work properly, signals can be transmitted incorrectly, which can cause complaints to the body. These may involve painful stimuli, while there is no medical reason for this. A very important neurotransmitter is serotonin, which is responsible for how we feel, also called a satisfaction substance.

Anxieties, emotions and stress

If the neurotransmitter level in the body is relatively high, then one is self-confident and can take on the world. However, with ADD there is a fragile balance, which means that optimism can quickly turn into a negative atmosphere. A small push is sufficient. For every person, if they are structurally confronted with anxiety and stress, for example from work or a private circumstance, a lot of serotonin is used. It means that stress decreases body satisfaction and thus increases the risk of problems. Because there is already an imbalance of neurotransmitters, the consequences will be noticeable sooner, causing people to react physically and mentally.

Regular risk of depressive traits

A decreasing amount of serotonin in the body has an accelerated effect on the mood of an ADD patient, causing a burnt-out feeling to occur sooner. It causes people to more often exhibit traits of manic depression, which also makes the person more likely to feel depressed. Because the thoughts may be/remain focused on the physical problem, a negative spiral is created. This increases the chance of developing complaints similar to a burnout. People with the condition are therefore more likely to have negative experiences or physical complaints.

Over-active body during sleep

The satisfaction balance of body and mind decreases, causing tension to increase. This ensures that muscles are too active during the night’s sleep, where acids can build up. Lactic acid and uric acid can build up in the muscles and joints respectively, causing tingling, stabbing or persistent pain. It prevents people from falling into deep sleep. The persistent thoughts and worries are also distracting, which may prevent you from getting rest. Spinning and tossing prevents one from resting, causing one to start the day tired.

Pain attacks due to acid content

A build-up of acid in the body leads to pain. Everyone is familiar with the phenomenon of calf cramps, because the lactic acid content increases. An increased acid level, possibly fueled by a sodium bicarbonate deficiency, can strike from one moment to the next in the form of severe pain due to extreme muscle cramps. Because acid can build up anywhere in the body, these complaints can strictly speaking occur anywhere. The complaint is often that the pain persists continuously in the same place or always returns there.

Inexplicability leads to more problems

With serious complaints, an investigation is often initiated to determine the cause. After a blood test and possibly a photo, the conclusion is that there is nothing serious going on. The person is therefore left with questions about his condition, while there apparently is no medical cause. Especially for ADD-sensitive people, these unanswered questions lead to more uncertainty, which can further increase the severity of the condition. Restlessness with fatigue increases, pain can be more severe and last longer, and the risk of burnout increases.

Recognizing underlying problem and possible solutions

ADD is formed by a congenital abnormality of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin. If the body is negatively triggered, serotonin levels can drop, setting the aforementioned negative spiral in motion. People become tired while the influence of muscle pain increases. However, medical research shows no causative agents, so no treatment can be initiated. In order to break the unfavorable effects, the immediate cause must be addressed. This can be done in the following ways.

Promote serotonin production

Optimism must be stimulated. This will not happen automatically and so the production of satisfaction substances must be promoted. To this end, you can take Griffonia extract, which contains high concentrations of 5-HTP (raw material for serotonin). On the other hand, you can also take tryptophan as a supplement. Note that 5-HTP can be converted directly into serotonin by the brain, while tryptophan still has to cross the blood-brain barrier. Griffonia should never be taken at the same time as tryptophan!

Disposal of acids

Built-up acids and toxins must be removed. This can be achieved by taking nettle tea. It has a diuretic effect, which also removes unfavorable substances in a natural way. If you are over fifty years old, the sodium bicarbonate content normally decreases, causing acidity to increase. Using baking soda stimulates the kidneys to remove acids more effectively.

Promote night’s sleep

Promoting a relaxed sleep can be stimulated with several substances. This can be achieved with the well-known warm glass of milk before going to bed in combination with a scoop of salmon or tuna. On the other hand, rooibos tea has a soothing effect. Magnesium intake or adding magnesium flakes to the bath also promotes relaxation.
Please note that tryptophan intake should be limited if you are taking antidepressants. If you have unexplained conditions, it is wise to first check whether there are any underlying medical problems. If this is not the case, previous advice may provide a solution.
